Save our UQ Librarians - more time for consultation

Posted on December 16, 2020

Congratulations! Your campaign to Save Our UQ Librarians is already having a positive impact.

The unions wrote to the University Librarian seeking an extension of time to the consultation period, as well as an urgent meeting to discuss concerns we have with the Change Proposal.

On Wednesday afternoon following our rally, Library management advised your Union that they have agreed to extend the formal consultation period until Friday, 8 January 2021

This means that members, affected staff and the wider UQ community will have close to three additional weeks to formulate and provide submissions in response to the Change Proposal.

We hope that this will allow members to take some time to enjoy the Christmas and New Year break, as well giving a better opportunity to consider and provide submissions.

The petition hosted by our comrades in the NTEU continues to gather momentum, so please keep up your efforts encouraging people to sign.

We continue to push UQ management for an urgent meeting to discuss the Change Proposal and hope that this will occur early next week.

Please don't hesitate to email universities@together.org.au or your Library union delegates if you have any specific questions or concerns, or wish to assist in the campaign, including assisting with the drafting of a collective union submission.
