Safety at Work and Your Core EB

Posted on May 20, 2020

Your safety at work is always important, but right now with the serious new hazard of COVID-19 it is even more important that our safety systems are in place and running well.

In many workplaces across the public sector, you will have Health and Safety Representatives who represent you as the workforce, alongside your other union delegates, with management who will be instrumental in the next phase of easing restrictions and ensuring all workers are safe in this process.

Are you a health and safety representative?

We want to connect Together members who are Health and Safety Representatives with the latest information and training as new industry plans are created in the "COVID Safe" framework.

If you are an elected or appointed Health and Safety Representative in your workplace please let us know andfill in your details here.

Remember if you have any questions or concerns about your safety, your union office is here to help.

You can get in touch with us on 1800 177 244 or by emailing your.union@together.org.au.

Your EB Agreement

As members would be aware, late in 2019 an offer was provided to settle your long outstanding EB Agreement. This followed the 3% pay increase delivered in 2019 due to the State Wage Case.

The majority of Together members accepted the offer made and this resulted in the $1250 one-off payment being made in March 2020.

A full employee ballot occurred from 24 March to 3 April and the result was declared in April that 97% of staff supported the Agreement.

Since the conclusion of the ballot, the government have not taken steps to certify the State Government Entities Certified Agreement 2019 which is the next step that needs to occur to ensure the Agreement is enforceable. This week we have lodged an application to certify the Agreement with the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission. We will keep you updated with this process.
