Quick CSC report back from QIRC on Monday
Yesterday we had our second conference in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) regarding the CSC review.
At this conference we reported back that we did not support the proposal to engage a different organisation to restart the CSC review and that instead we would like to re-engage QSS to complete the review they commenced at the end of last year.
We advised the Commissioner that members had overwhelmingly voted to seek QSS to complete the review and that we have still not been provided any genuine reasons as to why the Department lost faith in their ability to perform the review. Together remains committed to the original agreement made.
The Department attempted to question the legitimacy of our survey however the Commission did not accept the Department's blatant attempt to undermine appropriate union processes.
Together representatives refused to let the Department's attempts to derail the conference and kept the focus on the main issue at hand - the CSC review.
The Department were adamant they would not support re-engaging QSS and as a result agreed to provide Together a written explanation as to why they lost faith in QSS and why they believe they are unsuitable to undertake the review.
The Commission has given the Department until 4:00pm Monday 12 July to provide this information. From here, depending on the information provided, Together members will be able to determine if they would like to revisit the option of an alternative organisation undertaking the reviews – we will have one week to make this decision as the Commission has requested a report back on Monday 19 July.
As a union member, once we receive information from the Department, please look out for your opportunity to have your say on where to next - keep an eye on your emails over the next week.
