Queensland Health Payroll: permanent conversions to begin soon!

Posted on August 31, 2016

Congratulations! This week Queensland Health Payroll have confirmed the details of a process for existing temporary and agency staff to apply for permanent payroll positions.

In May we announced that the Director-General of Queensland Health had agreed to permanently recruit to 92 payroll positions and the details of this process have finally been confirmed, allowing the process to begin.

This is a fantastic outcome that provides secure employment to many temporary Together members. It will also help address concerns of Together members that high levels of temporary and agency staff has created significant risks to payroll processing.

Activity by Together payroll members and delegates to keep the pressure on management to resolve these issues has led to this outcome and to the continued improvement of the process for members.

Due to member activity we have secured a process where staff with temporary service of more than 12 months will have the opportunity to apply for permanent roles. The process will also capture agency staff and those working in higher duties.

While not every temporary employee will be able to be converted to permanent status through this process, we want to maximise Together members gaining permanent employment.

To do this we need to make sure everyone is a union member getting accurate information, and advice and assistance in this process. So share this email with your colleagues, and ask those not already members to join Together online

Your Enterprise Bargain expires today, and while we have made some progress there is a lot of work to do to get important improvements to your wages and conditions and improve workloads.
