QPS - Stage 3 outcome!

Posted on April 29, 2021

We have very exciting news! All your hard work, persistence and patience has paid off – our stage 3 admin review recommendations have been approved!

What does this mean?

  1. All positions raised by members have been approved to be upgraded from AO2 to AO3.
  2. All positions identified as the same as stages one and two but weren’t captured during those stages will receive the same operative date which is 1 July 2019.
  3. All remaining positions will be back paid to 1 August 2020 as per the commitment of your Commissioner last year.

The QPS has been working with QSS to determine dates for your payments so you will know when to expect the changes to take effect. We understand the upgrade will take place in your pay from 21 May and then over the next few pays you will receive your backpay and an increment increase you are entitled to. This is a significant task which we are expecting to take at least a few weeks or so to be fully implemented. However QSS has said it should all be finalised well before the end of the financial year.

All impacted staff will receive an email outlining the information pertaining to their individual situation.

We are also finalising your role descriptions – this is not about making changes to your duties or an increased expectation to perform more duties. The updates to the role descriptions are about ensuring it accurately reflects what you currently do.

As union members you should all be extremely proud – this win is because of your collective strength. A big shout out to your delegates Vicky Ryan and Jess Gorman who were instrumental to ensuring the QPS understood how important it was that we got this right and advocated fiercely for every single member. If you get a chance I really encourage you to send them your thanks!

We also want to strongly encourage you to take a moment to celebrate the significance of this outcome for you, your colleagues and future workers.

What’s next?

Stage 4! It is all systems go – meetings are underway. It is important we continue to work together to ensure we can achieve the best possible outcomes.
