Protective Services Agreement Offer: Union Members say Yes!
Congratulations! After months of negotiations and industrial action, Together members have voted in the ballot for the Protective Services agreement offer and it was approved with a large majority.
As union members you have had a say in your wages and conditions. Nearly three quarters of the membership voted on the offer with 75% supporting the offer – a clear majority.
The results of the ballot mean that you have won:
- a sizeable wage increase (with back pay to 1 May 2019);
- a one-off payment of $1250;
- a restructure of current classification levels;
- a joint review of classifications and ranks, which includes a review of specials, rostering of RDOs and critical incident leave;
and many other wins that improve the working lives of our members in Protective Services.
While members have had a good outcome, there is still more to be done. The focus now will be on drafting the agreement so that it can go out to ballot of all staff. Once the agreement is certified, the backpay and the $1250 will be processed. Then, the focus will be on getting the classification and rank review underway, of which the Terms of Reference must be published within three months of certification. This review is an important one for members to take part in. Members will be kept informed as it progresses.
