Petition to stop the forced redundancies at Virgin and pay JobKeeper.

Posted on April 7, 2020

Virgin Australia staff go above and beyond to make sure passengers receive great service and arrive safely to their destinations. We deliver for our company and should be proud of that.

Currently, Virgin Australia is proposing redundancies to about 250 loyal staff. Our union is working to ensure that these will not be forced and that we will be offered a process that is respectful to us. We are the hard-working members they will need in 6 months to run a great airline.

We are sure that you agree that no one deserves to lose their job because of the impacts of COVID-19.

This is why we are launching a petition to Paul Scurrah and the company executive to stop forced redundancies.

Please sign the petition and join us in calling on them to:

1. Apply the JobKeeper payment to staff who they have proposed to make forcibly redundant.

2. Re-credit any annual leave, long service leave, and time in lieu taken as a result of being stood down.

It is also important to note that our Union has written to Virgin Australia, seeking that they commit to the JobKeeper payments too

If we don’t act together now, Virgin Australia will make people forcibly redundant. We need to show our union strength by asking them to do the right thing.

Sign the petition now and share it with your colleagues and friends.
