OIR: Touching base - Are you OK?

Posted on April 2, 2020

This is just a quick check in to make sure everyone is doing ok and to answer any questions you might have.

By now most of you will be working from home, if you aren’t yet and you need advice or assistance on how to request working from home arrangements please let me know – we are here to help.

Inspectors should have seen the direction from the DDG that all proactive work and major projects have been ceased. Further to this you should have received communication that discretion has been reintroduced in relation to the priority infringements when having regard to small to medium business. It is important to note the rest of the CMEP remains in place i.e. improvement and prohibition notices.

The Department have also advised there is triaging in place for the reactive work which allows for prior contact to workplaces to ensure Inspectors are not being exposed to unintended risks. If you have any questions about this please get in touch.

We know the Department are working hard on ensuring everyone is safe and feeling supported through this time. It is a moving feast with new information nearly every day – we need to keep working together.

Remember as union members if you have any questions or concerns you can call us on 1800 177 244 or email oir@together.org.au and we will provide you with advice and support.

Stay safe and healthy!
