Offer received for Protective Services

Posted on October 10, 2019

On Tuesday evening the union office finally received an offer to settle the Protective Services Agreement.

This offer provides for a 2.5% wage increase per annum, and a $1250 payment, in line with the current government wages policy.

However, the offer does not include full back pay. The offer is only to apply from 1 July 2019, in order to "bring salary increases in line with the fee structure charges each financial year."

It also does not address the issue of parity with equivalent roles in the rest of the service.

You can see a copy of the offer here.

Next Tuesday 15 October your delegates will appear in the Industrial Commission to discuss the offer and these other claims.

Please tell us what you think about this offer and what it is that delegates should keep pushing for by emailing protectiveservices@together.org.au or speaking with your delegates.

Work bans are still in effect including a ban on completing training, wearing ties and higher duties for less than three days. This ban includes starting journey online training referred to in the email you would have received yesterday.

While the work bans remain in place, you cannot be required to complete this course or have any action taken against you for not completing the course.

If you or any member feel that you are being pressured to undertake training or to not take part in your lawful industrial action, please call your union office on 1800 177 244.

We will have more updates for members following the meetings at the Commission next week.
