It's time to stick together in PTQ.
For some time now your Together PTQ union delegates have been strongly advocating against the serious workload management issues existing in many parts of PTQ. Together members in some regional offices have also found they had no option but to refuse extra workload expected by PTQ management to protect themselves from the injury caused by the pressure and stress from excessive workloads.
Part of this advocacy was calling for PTQ to establish a pool of workers to relieve staff when on leave. Because of union member's activity, we have already seen some results with PTQ advertising short term/casual AO2 positions.
It’s great PTQ have taken this small step in the acknowledgement of the problem but let’s face it, these positions will not address the serious workload and career path problems. But, it does show that any union activity can make a difference and there is so much more that we can do.
We have put together a workload survey for members to fill out. At present, there have been less than 30 surveys completed. This is less than 5% of the staff. If we want to be heard on the issue and if workload is a real issue, could you please take the time to take the first step and complete the survey by COB Tuesday 15 September.
