HPDO: For patients and for our work – come to the rally
We're taking action to protect our work in supporting patients across Queensland.
For months we have asked Queensland Health to treat us fairly in negotiations. We are seeking protection of job security and manageable workloads. These aren't optional extras in the work we do, they are both essential.
HPs and DOs have attended rallies this week so far in Cairns, Mackay, Maryborough, Rockhampton and Townsville alongside our other Health colleagues. There were events today in Bundaberg and Toowoomba – well done to everyone who has taken part!
I know that many of you are preparing for the big rally in Brisbane outside Parliament House next Tuesday 29 November at 12:00pm. Please come to this event and invite all of your colleagues!
The government has settled agreements this year with nurses, teachers and police. We are asking for the Health Minister to intervene so that we can secure an agreement for HPs and DOs too. Considering the valuable work you do every day for our health system, that is not only fair, it is necessary.
We know from past experience we can't have a strong Health system if your work is not supported.
If we don't make a stand now for real job security then your rights will be less than everyone else in the public and private sector.
Your attendance at a rally will make a big difference. Please take action to support your health colleagues by going to your rally – for the long-term good of patient care and our health system.
We can win and we will win but it's up to you.
If you are at QHFSS, QEII, RBWH, PAH, The Prince Charles Hospital, Logan Hospital and Ipswich Hospitals there will be buses available next Tuesday to take you to the Parliament House rally in time for the start at 12:00pm. Talk to your local delegates or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about transport to the rally. You can RSVP to the Parliament House event on Facebook here and invite your colleagues.
Well done again on the strong showing at rallies so far. Let's keep going to get a better agreement offer for job security and an agreement that supports the services that you provide.
See you at the rally!
