Health: Your wage increase during the COVID-19 pandemic

Posted on April 16, 2020

Health workers: Thank you.

In every part of Queensland your work is protecting all of us during the COVID-19 crisis in thousands of different ways.

Our community owes you a tremendous debt of gratitude.

Your contribution as a worker is not only protecting Queeenslanders' physical and mental health - it's an economic lifeline as well. Without the wages of health workers keeping goods and services flowing, our communities and households would be suffering even more econonomic harm than they are already.

OVER 6000 people have signed our petition calling for the government to pay health staff what you are owed. That's amazing, and it's a testament to the depth of support that you have. But we can do better!

Sign the petition here and share it with your colleagues.

Our union officials have been raising the matter of health worker pay with the employer every single day, and we will continue to do so until we get an answer.

There are many other industrial matters that we are seeking clarification on as well. These include: the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE); protections for vulnerable staff; working from home arrangements; flexibile working arrangements; health worker accomodation; redeployment and screening. We believe there will be new guidance coming from Queensland Health on these matters. Stay tuned for more and ask anyone who is not yet a member to join today.
