Final Report – Therapists
Happy New Year! I hope you are still enjoying your break and had a great festive season.
Let’s make 2018 the year of pay parity for therapists!
In 2017 your Together delegates worked hard to get ready for this year, the year when we bargain with the government to improve your pay and conditions. Delegates spent hours and hours negotiating with the Department, pulling together research and reports and lobbying politicians as part of the state election campaign.
Today we can release the final report from the Together / DET working group who reviewed the key differences between what Queensland Health offer as opposed to DET.
You do great work in Education and you deserve to be remunerated equally with your colleagues in Queensland Health.
Here are 3 things you can do to make sure 2018 is the year of pay parity:
- Check out the final report from the Working Party HERE. Scroll down the bottom of this page to see links to the report appendices.
- Spread the word about the need to have equal pay with other allied health professionals – talk to your colleagues.
- Share this email with your colleagues and encourage them to join you as a union member.
In 2018 we have an opportunity to change the way therapy staff are paid and valued in DET, but only if we stick together and make the most of the bargaining process. That means – being active in your union and have a majority of therapists as union members. If we don’t present a united front we won’t achieve the outcome we are seeking.
In the next month, you will receive more information as a union member about the start of the bargaining process.
Have a great start to the year and the Term!
