EOI forms and the JobKeeper stand downs.

Posted on September 28, 2020

Your union had a meeting with Armaguard this week in regards to the Expression of Interest (EOI) forms and the JobKeeper stand downs matter in an attempt to clear up issues of concern coming out of the toolbox meetings.

It would appear that, although both issues occurred almost simultaneously, they are not separate issues that were going to occur. It was just bad timing.

From what we can gather, the intention of the EOIs was genuine in trying to ascertain what staff would like regarding their employment and hours of work with Armaguard for the future (even if those requests are unable to be met at this point in time). It would appear that that message filtering down through local branches is where the confusion and messaging was lost.

Your union advised that a lot of this confusion and angst could have been avoided had Armaguard consulted with members through their union from the very start. This is a requirement of Armaguard under your enterprise bargaining agreement. Armaguard management have committed to a more open and transparent consultation process in future.
