Education Work Bans – Offer? Coming soon

Posted on February 27, 2019

Taking industrial action is never easy, for some of you have been taking action now for 9 months to demonstrate your commitment to a better workplace, a better service, a better Queensland and real recognition for your roles.

Any action is never taken lightly.

Here is some good news though – your action is working. You are being heard.

As of yesterday the Department have confirmed that they are working on a new proposal to put to you all. We are really hopeful that it will include some progress on our key outstanding issues like recognition of the administrative roles in schools, the Regional Office review, progress on occupational violence and on call as well as the important matters noted in the 6 December offer. So while our stated date of wanting a new offer by 25 February has now passed, it is because the Department are genuinely working on a new package – so that’s good news. I know it’s hard to wait!

As always, any and all offers will be put to members to consider and we’ll do our best to make sure you have as much time as possible and all the information about the proposals that we have so you can make informed decisions.

I hope to be able to provide you with a detailed update very soon.

Last year we regularly did updates for “Wages Wednesday” – your colleagues in Core agencies are currently voting on their latest offer. If you want to check out their offer you can see it here.
