Education: The latest on your wages and arbitration

Posted on July 17, 2019

I hope you are having a great start to Term 3.

This Term we (finally) have the hearing dates for our arbitration, which is the process we are currently in to address our claims for wages and key conditions for Education staff.

At the end of Term 2 we submitted all the witness statements (many from your colleagues) in support of our claims.

In August there will be a 'trial plan' created and we will see who the Department will call as witness and their statements.

Here are the tables that set out the wage increases we are seeking for public servants in the Department of Education this arbitration. Note that we have had to add a fourth year due to the timing of the case.

In light of the great outcome reached for teachers it is clear that government have money in the coffers. Now it needs to be extended to you and your vital work.

While the arbitration continues, the government must act to provide you with an interim pay increase.

At the end of last term we created some text that you could use to email the Premier and Minister about the need for the government to provide you with a fair pay increase. Please have a look at that text here and send your email to the Minister and the Premier if you haven't already.

As always you can see updates about our arbitration process and more documents here on our site.
