Education: GOOD NEWS FOR YOUR WAGES - We won the State Wage Case!

Posted on November 8, 2019

Great news! Yesterday evening the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission handed down their decision in the State Wage Case.

Together members have won!

The Commission has ordered a 3% pay increase for 2019, back-paid to 1 September 2019.

This outcome in the State Wage Case is wonderful news, and an important outcome while we await the full arbitration process to be finalised for the Department of Education. In our arbitration we are still seeking pay increases to be backdated to last year (2018) – I know many members have asked this question! However ultimately that is a matter for the Commission in the arbitration to decide along with our other points.

We have no information yet on when this increase and back-pay will be in your pay packets, however we will be hoping to advise on this soon.

This is a very important victory for you as Together members. The State Government made submissions seeking to stop the 3% pay increase this year, however, the Commission did not accept their arguments and instead agreed with the union parties.

This means that Together members will receive a 3% pay increase this year. Waiting for an arbitration outcome is difficult, however now this outcome means a boost for your pay packets!

In our arbitration we are seeking back-pay to 2018 – however that is a matte for the Commission to decide in that process. For a reminder of what we are seeking in the full arbitration process next year it’s HERE.

Congratulations members! Happy Friday! :)
