EB9: Quick update - your pay and condition
At the end of 2016, AO, OO, TO and PO Together members gave in-principle support to the government’s new offer that included full back pay to 1 September 2016.
Making sure you were back paid to the end of your last agreement only occurred because over 500 Together members contacted the Minister and took a stand.
Your delegates are now attending meetings to draft your new agreement. Once a single comprehensive document is ready then all union members and staff will be balloted and asked to “accept” or “reject” the new agreement.
By taking action, attending meetings and sending emails to decision makers, you have forced much needed improvements to your rights and conditions at work. Nothing would change for the better without you.
There is a big opportunity as part of your new agreement is the development of a central library of job descriptions for EB9. This will ensure that your roles are consistent and fair between HHSs. Help your delegates build this central job library by completing this survey.
Your new agreement will also give long-term temporary workers access to a fairer process to permanency. To make the most of this, it is essential that we have a strong understanding of temporary employment of union members across QH. If you are a temporary worker, complete this Together temporary employment survey here.
Your new agreement will be better with a stronger union! Ask your colleagues to join you as a member of Together today.
P.S. We will not have an estimated date for when your back pay will be delivered until after the ballots have occurred. We will then be able to give you a date for the delivery of your back pay.
