Draft clauses for IOC Enterprise Agreement presented to Virgin management
At the latest bargaining meeting on Wednesday, 9 June 2021, your union presented management with a series of draft clauses that members propose including in the IOC Enterprise Agreement. Discussions also continued about increasing redundancy entitlements for team members covered by the Agreement.
Your delegates have been working on draft clauses to add to the draft Agreement put forward by Virgin Australia. The draft clauses include guaranteeing your rights at work about the following issues:
- Meal breaks: We want to make sure that team members are provided a meal break in the middle of their shifts. If work is too busy for you to take your break, you should be paid at overtime rates until you get your break.
- Guaranteed breaks between shifts: Members need to be able to rely on a guaranteed break after shifts to manage fatigue. We are seeking a 12-hour break between rostered shifts, and a longer break after working a block of night shifts.
- Job share arrangements: ‘Job share’ gives team members the flexibility to share a full-time position between two people. Members are working to develop a clause that makes sure that shifts are still rostered within the full-time roster.
- Annual leave and long service leave at half pay: Allowing team members to take annual leave or long service leave at half pay will give members more flexibility in the way they use their time off.
Other clauses include a minimum engagement for full-time and part-time team members, a higher duties allowance, the right for part-time team members to request conversion to full-time, and an increase to your personal leave entitlement.
The next bargaining meeting is on Thursday, 24 June 2021. Your union expects that Virgin will make a wage offer during this meeting – we will provide details of the offer and seek your feedback after the meeting.
Please speak to your delegates and/or your organiser if there are any issues that you want on the agenda for our next meeting.
