We have news about redundancies at Dnata Catering.
Group 1 – Operational Staff
Dnata Catering is ready to go ahead with voluntary redundancies (VR) for Group 1 employees. Dnata have told us that they will accept 33 out of 46 expressions of interest. They will be contacting staff this week to advise whether or not their VR EOI has been successful. We understand that most employees will leave the business between 1 and 15 December. Employees will be paid their full redundancy pay, accrued entitlements and payment in lieu of notice according to the EBA. Your payment in lieu of notice will be based on your average hours for the period 1 April 2019 to 30 March 2020.
Unfortunately, Dnata says that there are likely to be 6 compulsory redundancies (CR). We think this is pretty disappointing given the number of people putting their hands up for a VR. We have asked Dnata Catering to pause any CRs until the consultation process for Group 1 VRs is completed, and they have agreed. We will be looking for opportunities for job swaps and other mitigation strategies to avoid any CRs. Dnata Catering have refused to provide us with the details of the compulsory redundancies until they are ready to notify affected employees.
Group 2 – Support Staff
Dnata Catering have committed to starting the EOI process for Group 2 employees and Workforce Planning employees. Individual consultation meetings will take place in the coming weeks. At the meeting you will be asked to express interest in redundancy or mitigation options such as part-time work or SWLOP. You will be able to bring a support person to the meeting, so contact your organiser if you want a union representative at the meeting. We have also asked Dnata to take accurate notes of member’s preferences.
The next meeting will be scheduled in the week of 7 December.
