COVID-19 Vaccination Program

Posted on February 22, 2021

Many Together members will be in the first groups of workers to be offered the COVID-19 vaccinations from this week. The Federal Government have determined priority groups and set out "categories" for different workers and community members who will receive first access to the vaccines.

There are 6 Pfizer hubs about to commence operation in Queensland, with further vaccination centres and programs to come online when the next vaccine (the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine) becomes available.

We know that there are a lot of different and important considerations for workers when receiving a vaccine – we believe it's really important to make sure that you are provided with the best information, paid time to have your vaccination if it is required for work and that vaccines are available and free to everyone who wants one.

Together has been attending information sessions and engaging with the federal and state governments on the roll out of the COVID vaccines, raising your questions about how you support colleagues, patients and clients as well.

Together delegates have discussed the COVID-19 vaccination program and have developed a Together 'position statement' on the vaccine.

Together will continue to meet with other Health unions continue and Queensland Health centrally on a weekly basis to discuss this issue and any problems that may arise from the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination hubs.
