As you are all now aware negotiations and industrial action have ceased and due to the departments inability to offer a fair deal for Correctional Officers, we are in arbitration for your pay and conditions.
Before arbitration can proceed we need to determine the starting point for all members. Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace sent this letter to all public servants thus forcing Together to lodge a dispute around the legalities of the 12/12 directive and how it applies to your current enterprise agreement.
We now have a directions order from the QIRC on this dispute and it will be heard before the full bench of the QIRC on the 9th, 10th and 11th December.
Once the 12/12 dispute is finalised we can proceed with arbitration of your pay rise and conditions.
We are still pressuring the Minister to award you the interim 2.5% pay rise in the meantime. This has been budgeted for however the minister has yet to sign off on an increase in your pay.
We have also written to the Commissioner as a result of the WH & S dispute lodged last month and currently awaiting documentation from the department. If the department aren’t forthcoming within the week we will be calling in the industrial inspectors because the department can not continue to fail to provide you with a safe workplace and do nothing about it.
