Corrections - Enough is enough

Posted on August 26, 2019

Last week we lodged a dispute with the department under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 that Corrective Services were failing to reduce the risk to your health and safety to as low as reasonably practicable. Click here to read that notice.

The Department provided us with a response and the union has been waiting to meet with department reps to discuss these issues. Click here to read the response from the Commissioner.

However, over the weekend more of you were assaulted at both Woodford and Wolston Correctional Centres.

Enough is enough. It is past time QCS acted to stop the assaults on members. This campaign is about Respecting the Risk you make everyday at your workplace and the department are still not getting the message.

The union office has sent this letter demanding to meet with Commissioner Martin to resolve the safety concerns across the state.

The department has an obligation to provide a safe workplace - they are failing miserably and need to be held to account.
