Corrections: Easter Sunday pay

Posted on April 11, 2017

We're coming up to the Easter holiday period and as it stands, Corrections workers could potentially be missing out on holiday entitlements for working on Easter Sunday. This is despite Sunday now being a gazetted public holiday with thousands of other Queensland workers entitled to penalty rates for working that day.

When your last agreement was negotiated, Easter Sunday was not a gazetted public holiday. This means that right now, Corrections workers will not be entitled to public holiday allowances on Easter Sunday if they receive the Aggregated Shift Allowance.

This is completely unacceptable.

Now that the Government has proclaimed Easter Sunday as a public holiday, if you work on that day you should receive an additional benefit.

Your union has made direct contact with the government regarding this matter and also formal representation through the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.

Stay tuned for further updates on the matter.
