CITEC Bargaining update
Last Thursday your delegates Darrel, Paul and James along with Michael and Cameron from your union office met with the Department and representatives from CITEC Management and the Office of Industrial Relations for the first EBA negotiation of 2020!
Your EB agreement is what will determine your pay and conditions for at least the next 3 years. Together members have put forward important suggestions for improving things at CITEC.
CITEC has finally received authority to bargain from the Government, nearly three months after your agreement expired on 31 October 2019. It has certainly been frustrating for members and delegates dealing with this delay!
The bargaining "framework" that management have put forward suggests no changes to conditions, a 2.5% wage increase each year for three years (HOWEVER – there is an issue with the 2.5% because based on current Award rates of pay this may not be the full story) and a $1250 "one off' sign-on payment. The framework does not address the issues raised by Together members. More work needs to be done.
During the meeting last Thursday your delegates put forward:
- Adoption of clauses offered to the Core agreement that apply to CITEC (for example – improvements to job security, mental health first aid, consultation and other matters)
- A four year agreement
- No loss of pay or conditions if going to a 36.25 hour week
We continued to raise the issues of coverage of the agreement (ie. who would be covered by the EBA) and ensuring that there is a commitment to back-pay any payrise to the start of the agreement due to the time taken for the Department to come to the table with bargaining authority. You shouldn't lose money due to the tardy approval process!
