Cairns and Yarrabah Lockdown.

Posted on August 9, 2021

From 4pm yesterday, Cairns Regional Council Area and Yarrabah have gone into a three-day lockdown.

This could be a very stressful time for a lot of us. If you are a vulnerable person and are wanting to discuss remote working arrangements with your manager, please feel free to copy me into any correspondence. It is important to remember that managers/employers have a responsibility to provide a safe work environment.

Please make sure that you look after yourselves. As public servants we often put the needs of others before our own. In this case, it is important that we take care of our mental and physical health first. That is the only way we will still be able to deliver the services which the community needs from us.

Your union office is here to provide you with support or advice on how this lockdown may impact your workplace. You can email your.union@together.org.au or call 1800 177 244. You can also contact me, your Cairns organiser, by emailing cairns@together.org.au. I will be working remotely during this period but will be available on email, phone and TEAMS should you need assistance.

Please stay safe and reach out to me if you need anything.
