BYDC member update: Positive cases, testing and PPE

Posted on August 23, 2020

Together received contact from the Department this morning to break the difficult news that additional BYDC staff and their family members have tested positive to COVID-19. This is deeply concerning news. If you are one of those employees who has tested positive, we are thinking of you and are ready to help you if there is anything we can do to assist. Please don’t hesitate to contact us.

In addition to the advice we sent in our email to members yesterday, here is the latest update in relation to ensuring your safety at BYDC.

PPE: Together has been advised this morning that that the department has increased the level of mandatory PPE use, in line with advice from Queensland Health. Together has worked to make sure that all staff have enough of the right PPE, and that you know exactly how to use it to keep safe. We will be available to assist if you have any unresolved concerns about PPE so please don't hesitate to contact Together.

Testing: We again encourage all members who work at BYDC to get tested as soon as possible. If you believe you are a close contact of a confirmed case but have not yet been tested or contacted by Queensland Health, please call the West Moreton Public Health Unit on 3818 4700. Queensland Health has more information about testing sites.

Communication of member issues: We are in regular communication with the Department and are working with them to ensure that the workplace is safe and that any of our members issues that come up will get addressed quickly.

We're here for you. It is important that you reach out if you have any questions or concerns you want your Together office to address on your behalf.

If you or your colleagues have questions or concerns, please contact us on youthjustice@together.org.au and we will be in touch.
