Bolton Clarke - You voted NO, so what now?
Bolton Clarke have just advised the following;
“We have received the outcome of the ballot. Over 50% of employees voted on the agreement.
The majority of votes received were NO votes. So the proposed agreement will not move forward. With this decision, current conditions and entitlements will remain in place.”
While this does not seem in the spirit of bargaining fairly, unfortunately an employer can make this decision. This is why it is important to have collective power and a strong union. It takes workers acting together to force employers back to the table after a ‘no’ vote.
As this agreement covers all workers at Bolton Clarke across the Country, your Union has made contact with the other workers' unions to ascertain how they are feeling and what they are prepared to do. It is also important for you to communicate your views around the following;
- How do you feel about Bolton Clarke’s decision to ignore workers' concerns and reasons for voting no?
- How do you feel about Bolton Clarke’s decision to revert back to the old agreement?
