AMWU: Negotiations have slowed, next meeting 18 Dec

Posted on November 27, 2019

The national branch of your union (the ASU) had a teleconference EBA meeting on the 22 November with the leadership of the AMWU. It is fair to say that there was a real stalemate and that the AMWU stuck to its position and your delegates also stuck to your position!

The AMWU management restated their position that their initial offer is withdrawn and that they still want to abolish the clothing allowance and extend the span of hours to 7pm (or until 8pm by facilitation) as required. ASU delegates informed the AMWU that members are opposed to these changes!

Despite what feels like a stalemate at the moment, we have agreed to another EBA meeting on the 18 December in Sydney. This will in fact be a face to face meeting where we would hope to progress the negotiations further.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in contact by emailing privatesector@together.org.au or by calling you union office on 1800 177 244.

Ensure that your union continues to grow at the AMWU by encouraging your colleagues to join your union, so they too have access to representation, advice and support. Remember that your union fees are tax deductible and that you have access to great member savings and benefits
