TAFE news – collective agreements and the petition

Last year, when negotiations for the TAFE teachers' agreement broke down, the government decided that they wanted to have one collective agreement for all TAFE employees – their intention was to pull the non-teaching staff out of the Core agreement. At the time, the Commissioner ruled that this could not occur and referred the teachers’ agreement to arbitration. Click here and here to see the emails we sent out about this at the time. The government then appealed the Commissioner's decision in the Industrial Court.
