Last year Together members scored a major win in reaching in-principle settlement of the "core" public service agreement. In December, you received your first 2.5% increase as part of this agreement.

Schools: Welcome back, what's changed?

Welcome back to Term 1 of 2016. We hope that you had a great break over summer and that the start of term hasn’t been too hectic!

As you know recently schools had Day 8 - the day when school enrolment numbers are analysed and school resources are evaluated and allocated. Day 8 is the day that schools are once again under-resourced by an out-dated "Allocative Model".

Great news, Together members have won the first stage in securing fairer employment practices and more secure jobs at QSS. Your action to shine a light on temporary, higher duties and casual roles within QSS has resulted in the acting Director General Jamie Merrick agreeing to an extensive review of the employment of QSS staff. 

A leaked plan for more privatisation in TAFE

This morning Australia found out about Malcolm Turnbull’s radical plan to destroy the TAFE system as we know it. The plan, leaked to news outlets, would see fees sky rocket as low-grade private training providers engage in a race to the bottom. Turnbull’s plan is Campbell Newman’s radical agenda for TAFE but on steroids.
