Celebrating School Cleaners

Posted by Alex Scott on June 12, 2013

There is a lot going on in schools at the moment.  The Costello Commission of Audit report will bring a lot of changes with its emphasis on contestability. These changes will affect cleaners and schools officers in the future.  We will see increased autonomy devolving down to schools which will mean that schools will be taking less direction from Education Queensland, and there will be extra work for school administration staff in implementing these reforms.

We know that this agenda means cuts to our health and education services. And, we know all of this will have an impact on every one of us.

A better Townsville: A better Queensland

Posted by The Together for Townsville Team on May 23, 2013

We know the government’s plan for the privatisation of our services under the label of ‘contestability’ would see Townsville’s services given to the cheapest provider. It would see our regional economy hurt and our families dishing out more money for things like healthcare, education and safety. This isn't good enough and together we can make a stand.
