At lunchtime today, Together Health members gathered at workplace meetings across Queensland to voice concerns about the lack of offer from Queensland Health. We decided to take industrial action for better pay and conditions.
We still have no offer from our employer – despite over 20 negotiation meetings, 6 months of negotiations, and now being almost one month past the expiry of your agreement.
HPs, Dental Officers and Clinical Assistants members have decided to take strike action on the 14 November.
This action will be to back our demands for Queensland Health to place a good offer on the table, and that there must be enough time to consider any offer without the threat of loss of backpay. Union members in every worksite will be taking this action to send a strong message to Queensland Health that enough is enough.
These stop work actions range from 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hours and 8 Hours work stoppages.
Your EB steering committee has now endorsed this decision and we will start issuing notices to Queensland Health on the work stoppages so that member can take action on the day.
What do I have to do to take action?
At this stage you do NOT need to advise your employer that you will be taking action on the day. It is up to your employer to put in place contingencies and they should prepare for as many of you taking action as possible. We will communicate more detail to members as we approach the 14 November about any steps you need to take to ensure that you can take action on the day.
How do I make sure the action is successful?
Strike action is one of the most serious steps that workers can take to ensure your voices are heard and your issues are taken seriously. You have shown that you are committed to getting a best possible offer placed on the table.
To make sure this action is successful we all need to ensure that our non-union member colleagues become members so that they can take action with you on 14 November. You can forward this email to your colleagues and ask them to join online here.
Congratulations to all members who decided to take action on 14 November. We especially congratulate so many of the members who committed to a full 8 hour strike on the day!
The only way things will change for the better is through the actions of union members like us. Let’s do everything we can to get the right outcome through our day of action on 14 November!

We have less than 2 weeks to go to secure a deal and backpay for your new HPDO and Clinical Assistant’s agreement. Despite positive indications that there would be an offer early this week we still have not received an offer from Queensland Health.
