Systematic underpayment by Flight Centre
Your union, following the advice of Maurice Blackburn, has launched Federal Court action about the systematic underpayment of employees.
Maurice Blackburn's investigation of the past 6 years of employee records have shown that the company failed to pay minimum wages, penalty and overtime rates, annual leave and leave loading at the correct rate and did not provide the correct rest and meal breaks. This type of failure to provide entitled wages & penalties is known as Wage Theft.
On calculations, in total, from the 5 employees which were investigated, the systematic underpayment is totalled to about $250,000.
As this systematic underpayment of employees is part of the structure of Flight Centre’s business model, potentially thousands of current and former workers could have been impacted.
