Queensland Health: Don't implement mandatory pre-employment medical screening

Posted on February 9, 2016

We the undersigned oppose the introduction of mandatory pre-employment medical screening of new appointees to Queensland Health, as is currently proposed in the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS). We are concerned the introduction of such measures will force staff to provide private medical information that is unnecessary and irrelevant to the role, which may impact on the appointment of staff as well as any potential workers' compensation claims in the future.

We call on Queensland Health to immediately cease any move to implement mandatory pre-employment medical screening above that which currently exists within the current legislation and industrial agreements.
