Together BSM update!
We hope back to school has been as smooth as possible for you!
It's an exciting time in schools, with the Day 8 numbers processed this week and all Principals now possessing the necessary paperwork to commence the appointment and upgrade process for BSMs. In most instances it should be relatively straightforward, with members being able to be direct-appointed to your new levels. If you are having any difficulties at all remember as a union member you can access our support.
Principals have been directly sent these forms to use:
You and your Principal need to sign the form and send it back to the RoSAS team for processing by Friday 17 February.
This will ensure you are paid at your new level and receive your back pay in the 15 March pay cycle.
Where it is not as straightforward, the Principal should be discussing this with you and the other AOs to commence the other processes necessary to fill the position. This could include: sharing the upgraded position, closed merit selection process and, in some cases, the position could go out to open merit (note this last process should ONLY occur if the job is currently vacant).
In those schools with fewer than 300 students there may be a number of AO2s employed at the school. Principals should be having a conversation with affected staff to determine if there is one obvious AO2 candidate for the BSM role or on whether there may need to be further discussions between eligible employees on who gains the BSM role. This could include sharing the upgraded position or closed merit selection process.
