TI Labour Day is Friday

Posted on May 15, 2017

Reminder: Your Labour Day celebrations kick off 5pm this Friday (19 May) afternoon!

Labour Day is our day to celebrate the wins achieved by Together members and to proudly march in purple with our union comrades.

This year we also march in solidarity with union members who are having their wages attacked by their employers due to the Fair Work Commission’s decision on Sunday and public holiday rates. Union members will fight these cuts to weekend pay because workers neither deserve a pay cut nor can they afford one.

Thursday Island Labour Day celebrations will kick off at 5pm Friday 19 May at the Post Office and we will march down to Anzac Park for music, food and other family fun day activities! If you don’t have a Together shirt yet - don’t worry there will be some available at the start of the march.

Click here to print out a poster to stick up in your workplace this week and I hope to see you on Friday afternoon!
