Take action in support of workplace rights; and an important meeting

Posted February 6, 2012 by Julie Bignell

Can you take a second to support the rights at work of a Toowoomba union member?

ASU Delegate (Queensland Services Branch) Graham Wotton was an employee of Toowoomba Regional Council and has been active. In his capacity as a union delegate he forwarded a report about restructuring at the Council to the ASU office. As a result of Graham's action in forwarding the report he was sacked by Council.

Terminating an employee for an action performed in good faith as a union delegate is not acceptable. Please visit here to send a message to Toowoomba Mayor Peter Taylor and Council CEO Ken Gouldthorp to ask them to reinstate Graham and respect union members' rights.

There is a meeting for the Toowoomba Regional Organising Committee on Wednesday 15 February at the Irish Club Hotel. All Together members are welcome. Please see here for a copy of the agenda.
