South East Region Consultative Committees

Posted December 22, 2011 by Alex Scott

The South East Region executive team have proposed a review of the way Local Consultative Committees & the Regional Consultative Committee function within the region.

As Together representatives are aware, there have been a number of issues (both for our union and management) in maintaining appropriate and consistent representation at RCC and LCC meetings during 2011. As a result, our union welcomes this opportunity to revisit the structure and make some positive changes to not only improve the functionality of these forums, but most importantly to ensure that members have a real say in what happens within the region.

Regional management have presented union representatives with a proposal for consultation and this is currently with delegates for feedback. Our union office has also sought more general feedback from delegates about whether they support a stream-based or location-based local consultative structure.

Members should also be aware that due to the regionalisation of Accommodation Support & Respite Services, further discussions will take place regarding the existing consultative structures for AS&RS and how to integrate this into the broader regional structure.

In order to support the 2012 structure, our union is looking for more members to step forward to be  union delegates for their service area within the region. In particular, local representatives are needed for the Housing and Homelessness, Community Services, Sport and Recreation and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Services streams.

If you would like to provide feedback on this review of the region's consultative structure please feed your views back to your local delegate or alternatively please email the union office at communities@together.org.au and an Organiser or delegate will get in contact with you. Feedback is requested by the 20th January 2012.
