Reminder: Day of Action Tuesday 25th Oct
Next Tuesday, your state-wide day of action kicks off with members across Queensland meeting to bring attention to the issues of ongoing temporary, casual and contract employment in the public sector.
Holding these meetings is the next step in our campaign for employment security. After 829 submissions to parliament, 500,000 views of our online rally and positive meetings with key cross-bench MPs, our campaign is gaining momentum!
We have got the attention of Queensland politicians, but we still need 45 votes in the parliament to change laws. We can do that by making a lot of noise on Tuesday, 25th October - our politicians won’t be able to ignore us.
Our strength in numbers at the workplace are crucial in getting politicians in government to take notice. We can win this campaign, but we need to keep up energy!
It is easy to set up a meeting at your workplace:
- Let your colleagues know where and when the meeting is happening via email or face-to-face. Remember this meeting is open to all your colleagues, they do not need to be members of your union.
- Prepare for your meeting by reading through the meeting kit and getting your meeting space ready prior to your meeting time.
- Use the kit to guide your meeting and allow your colleagues to discuss the issues that are of concern to them.
- Report back using the campaign website on how your meeting went.
Your meeting kit has a more in depth guide to help you and your colleagues run a successful meeting. Get started by downloading the kit from the campaign website here.
If you have any questions or feedback you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or use the online feedback form, also make sure to email us any photos you take at your meeting!
