QIRC Hearing: Together Position

Posted November 6, 2014 by Your HP Steering Committee delegates

We made a big decision last night.

Except really - you made it 2 weeks ago.

In the last week, thousands of us have demonstrated that we will not accept cuts to our rights or the rights of those who come after us, and lodged to take industrial action.

In the Industrial Relations Commission yesterday, Queensland Health asked us to stop taking action in support of our claim "or else" they would continue to press the commission to commence conciliation.

Clearly what we are doing is working - QH are paying attention to us standing firm.

We decided last night that today we are not going to take the pressure off and we will continue to lodge for more action ballots as members have requested.

You may hear down the track that the commission decided to formally start conciliation. If that happens, so be it. We go to this process today from a position of strength and a united front - this is how change occurs.

We are committed to building a better workplace now and for new young graduate health practitioners.

We have further meetings at the QIRC today.

We will not trade away our rights.

Let us know today if you haven't already about your workplace and action - emailhealth@together.org.au.
