Labour Day in Maryborough

Posted on April 18, 2017

Labour Day 2017 is just a few weeks away and I just wanted to follow up on Alex’s email from last week to give you a bit more information on our Labour Day event in Maryborough.

Maryborough’s Labour Day and Family Fun Day is on Sunday 30 April. Labour Day is always a great family day to celebrate being union and enjoy the company of your fellow Together members, I hope you can come along and join us!

Members will meet at the front of the Waterside Workers Union Hall on Wharf Street at 9:45am. Here you will receive a Together shirt, organise our flags to proudly wave and we will get ready to take our place in the march as a union!

The march will start at 10am and is around 1km long. We head down Wharf St, through Queens Park and then on to the Maryborough Services Memorial bowls club (opposite Woolies). The march usually takes about 20 - 30 minutes to complete.

Once we finish the march, members can head to the bowls club for the Family Fun day part of Labour Day from about 11am. Here there will be a free BBQ and there will be drinks available at the cash bar. There will also be activities for the kids.

Queensland Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace will also be in attendance. The Minister is scheduled to make a speech at around 11:30am.
