Health EB8: management on the back-foot

Posted October 10, 2011 by Alex Scott

Great news - Queensland Health management is rattled and your work bans are having an impact.

This is looking like it's going to be an unprecedented action by Queensland Health workers. Over a thousand people have committed to stopping work on Thursday to make a united call on the Premier to intervene for a fair deal.

We need one last big push to make sure that as many people as possible come along on Thursday. Click here for a bus timetable and posters.

Senior management is getting worried about the size of our event on Thursday and the message that we are going to be sending to the politicians. We have reports that some managers in places like CaSS and DCHO have been querying whether the workers are covered as part of the protected action. This is a silly scaremongering tactic.

Queensland Health has been notified of Thursday's action across all districts. They have the opportunity to dispute this in the industrial relations commission but haven't. Any talk that Thursday's action is not protected is just designed to stop you from doing what you have a right to - taking collective action in support of fair wages.

We have them on the back foot. Let's drive the message home.

See you on Thursday.
