Equal Pay outcome in jeopardy - take action now

Posted September 30, 2011 by Alex Scott

This week thousands of workers in Queensland's social and community sector were expecting a pay rise as a result of the successful Pay Up for Pay Equity campaign. A regulation to make these pay rises enforceable was due to come into effect on the first of October. Eight days before it was due, politicians in Canberra blocked it.

This means that thousands of workers will be denied the pay rise that they deserve.

The Australian Services Union is asking for support from union members across the country including members of your union, Together.

Can you take a moment to send a message to Canberra that workers should be treated fairly?

It's important that we send a message to the politicians in Canberra that workers shouldn't be treated this way. To have a hard won and important pay increase ripped away at the last minute is a low act.

Thanks for supporting the rights of workers across the state.

P.S - Today workers in the social and community sector will be rallying outside of politicians offices asking for fair treatment. If you have a moment spare please show you support. Details are here.
