Communities: More Machinery of Government Changes on the way... ...what do you think?

Posted November 22, 2011 by Alex Scott

Members know that a state election looms around the corner in 2012 and that any election outcomes will likely spell one thing: Machinery of Government changes.

After the last state election in 2009, a major series of MoG changes were implemented across the public service which saw many departments amalgamate to form much larger departments, like the Department of Communities.

Over the last two years Together members have expressed many varied points of view about the MoG process in Communities and there remains a broad range of opinions about the success and value of the changes.

Your elected Council representatives will be asked on 29 November to develop a formal union position in relation to what should happen to the Department of Communities after the next state election.

If not already, your Council delegates will be seeking your views about this over the next few days and will discuss with you a number of different options that delegates have identified as possible union positions.

Make the most of this opportunity to have your say in how our union responds to this important question!
