Changes in Queensland Health

Posted on March 2, 2015

Your Together Council delegates met this weekend just gone to talk about next steps for union members in Health and improving our working lives.

As union members you are to be congratulated for standing firm for fairness and campaigning and winning against the previous government who had stripped away our rights at work and our services.

Now that we have a new Health Minister and a new Director General coming we wanted to meet and prioritise the issues to escalate to the Minister.

We all want to see positive change, and we have been waiting for it! As a strong union who campaigned effectively we need to now see results for our action.

Parliament will be meeting for the first time on the 24th of March.

Before the caucus meets it would be great to have Together members brief new MPs on our issues.

Can you join a delegation to a new MP to share your story about working in health?

Sign up here.

Your Union Council delegates passed some important resolutions on Saturday. You can see them here.

These resolutions will help inform our first meetings with the Health Minister and MPs but then we will also be working with other unions on the broad and drastic reform that needs to happen to restore fairness in our workplaces.

Your delegates are continuing to meet this week to work out the next steps for our negotiations with Health about wages and conditions. Given the state of flux with the legislation governing your rights it may be a few weeks before we have any solid proposals for members to vote on.

Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit from an organiser to talk with members about how to make things better in your workplace. You can email us at health@together.org.au.
