Campbell Newman's war on services

Posted February 25, 2013 by Alex Scott

This is a critical week for Queenslanders who care about services to our community. The Newman government will be forging ahead with their plans to privatise services.

Last year, the Newman government cut jobs and hurt our economy, using the Costello audit commission report as the excuse.

This year, they will be privatising services, again using the Costello commission report as the excuse. They won't use the word 'privatisation' but the effect will be Queenslanders' services will be put into private hands.

Sign up to Working for Queenslanders to stand up for services.

The stories are coming through every day about how people are hurting because of the Newman government's cuts. The government want someone else to blame for the misery and pain the service cuts are inflicting on people.

Nothing will be safe from this privatisation agenda: prisons, health and hospital services, disability services.

The latest Costello audit report is being kept secret, because the government know their cuts will be greeted with outrage. They want to keep their plans for cuts secret, and not announce them until the cuts have been made, when it is too late.

To stop this, we need a stronger movement in support of community and public services.

Please take a stand today by signing up at Working for Queenslanders - and if you have already, well done! You can help by spreading the word by inviting your friends and family to join the movement too.
