Brisbane Big Baby Blockade

Posted on May 29, 2015

Next Monday 1 June is the International Day of the Child, and Queensland unions together with The Parenthood and other groups have organised for concerned mums and dads to head into Brisbane to hold a rally in protest of the federal government's changes to the Paid Parental Leave Scheme.

Changes that will see over 79,000 new parents lose their entitlement to the government's 18 weeks of Paid Parental Leave - adversely affecting child and maternal health and well being + female workforce participation.

In just three weeks close to 2000 parents from across Australia have bombarded Treasurer Joe Hockey's email account telling him to stop his attack on PPL.

Join mothers, fathers, strollers and prams to protest against Tony Abbott's move to strip paid parental leave payments from nearly 80,000 Australian families.
