Last week the Fair Work Commission finished their Annual Wage Review process. Thousands of union members across the country took action by signing petitions, doing surveys and sharing stories on social media to win an increase to the minimum and award wage. 

Budget 2017: Your actions have forced the government to respond!

Yesterday, the state government handed down the budget for 2017/18. Members from across the public service have been advocating and campaigning for improvements in their service areas and because of your action, the government has responded. While there is still more to do in these campaigns and others, members determination have resulted in wins that will not only improve their workplaces, but also improve the services they provide for Queenslanders.

Proposed changes for Logan Hospital

I have already spoken with some of you on site at Logan Hospital. As you will be aware management are proposing to make changes with regards to introducing the Digital Hospital project at Logan Hospital and Beaudesert Hospital.

As union members it’s important that you know about these proposals and have a say about what is being proposed. Management have sent us this letter outlining a brief summary of the proposed changes.

$200 million investment in Child Safety

On Saturday, Minister Fentiman announced a $200 million funding package for Child Safety as part of this year’s state budget.

This will mean almost 300 new positions! Even better, nearly all of these positions are based in Child Safety Service Centres – and each and every position in a CSSC is vital in providing frontline services. The announcement includes higher-level CSSC-based positions to provide better career progression opportunities for Child Safety staff, the establishment of a relief pool for Child Safety Officers, and a roll-out of new phones.

ACE - Your agreement has been endorsed!

Congratulations! As you will have seen the ballot results for your new agreement shows it has been overwhelmingly endorsed across ACE.

This outcome has secured a pay rise of 2% per year for three years for all staff.  As well as the maintenance of all conditions.

Star Track - Your EBA Bargaining to Commence!

Your current workplace agreement is due to expire on 30 June 2017. Together/ASU officials met with Startrack Express managers on 2 June 2017 to discuss commencing negotiations for a new EBA.

UQ Bargaining update

Enterprise Bargaining (EB) negotiations for your wages and conditions are underway. We have been meeting with University management on a weekly basis and gained some headway. Here is a report back from your union representatives about the progress thus far.

Discussions have involved all parties coming together to form one Single Bargaining Unit (SBU). The SBU consists of all unions, management and some independent staff representatives representing themselves. As we always set out to do to enable meetings to be as efficient as possible, ground rules have been set in preliminary meetings thereby allowing the focus of the SBU to get down to the business of advancing our Log of Claims
