Townsville - Rally against budget cuts

Posted May 29, 2014 by Together Queensland

Townsville people are gathering early tomorrow (Thursday May 29) amid serious concerns about federal health funding cuts.

Alex Scott said today, “Cuts to health funding in the federal budget are still being accounted for.

“Before the Queensland budget is handed down we are calling on Queensland’s Treasurer and the Premier, who’s been decrying federal funding cuts, to stop these cuts.”

Northern Organiser Billy Colless said today, “At tomorrow’s rally we are inviting colleagues who lost their jobs in the last two years to have say.

“We need all Queensland politicians to stand up for our health system and oppose the current cuts.

“Here at Townsville we are feeling the pain of hospital service cuts and bed shortages.

“Queenslanders including local Townsville families need a health system that’s focused on delivering best health care, it’s the quality of the health system that matters, not which government is funding it.”
